The Design Process with Midjourney

My process?  I spend a lot of time visualizing what I want before I go into Midjourney. I don’t usually look at other people's images first. I usually visualize them when I’m in my creative zone and then I try to put that into words so that I can get Midjourney to come up with what I am dreaming of.

For example, the picture I crafted below is a hero banner you can use on a homepage or any page of your website.

I knew that I wanted this website to be dreamy, but different. I wanted it to stand out from all of the other designers out there.

The navyish blue color that I use just came to me one day and I thought,  hmm, I think that will be my new brand colors. Then I continued to work and work and work…..actually over several months to get my hero image like it is the way you see it today on my homepage. I wanted to combine a magical, ethereal and beautiful vibe all together.

You have also probably noticed my little hummingbird friend all over my site too. He has become my little side kick lol

Yes, I made him in Midjourney as well as a 3d object so he has that depth to him (yeah I think it’s a he).

Get your website done along with the branding

Also, I do have a special fondness for Squarespace. As a Squarespace designer and blogger, I have noted that it is particularly beautiful right out of the box compared to other website builders. But the thing with Squarespace is that adding this special piece of art really busts the doors wide open with its beauty. It is really put my website and my clients in the next league.

Since this is relatively new, I have started to use this with my web design clients. And it has produced rock-star results.

So I thought I would give you a little inspiration in this this blog so you can try it out yourself.

Get Mood Boards with a Twist

Midjourney offers an exciting take on mood boards! I have really found that it helps me when researching the vibe and mood for a new client’s branding.

I feel it gives you this whole new kind of freedom to be able to articulate what you are looking for but also you don’t know the output you are going to get ….which is a good thing because Midjourney will come up with some wild things that help inspire you.

Take a look at the 3 pics I added to this section of the blog posts. These three are a snap of some of the various moodboards I have made.

By providing specific prompts, you can generate fascinating mood boards adorned with beautiful props and captivating color schemes.

However, sometimes these mood boards can get a bit quirky, sporting peculiar objects like oddly shaped glasses or pea-like pebbles.

But don’t worry:  we've got a fix!

II. Midjourney Prompts for Web Design Background Images: A Canvas of Creativity

5 Ways to Use Midjourney Website Design Prompts

Example of a background image I have made for clients. This is made by using the word “repeating pattern” in your prompt.

The Art of Backgrounds

Background images can be a game-changer in web design. Let your creativity run wild!

From elegant to rustic, and everything in between, Midjourney can generate background pieces suitable for various website sections, including sales pages and background sections.

When I am creating a website for a client, I run prompts specifically for background pieces. You can think of things like textured backgrounds, repeating patterns, alcohol ink, and so many more.

The pic below is one of my favorites that I crafted for this website. I used the prompt with the word alcohol ink in it and I was absolutely blown away at the beauty and richness of it.

Squarespace makes it super easy to upload this background into any page or section and it looks beautiful directly downloading from Midjourney. No need to even touch this one up.
